GALA conference 2016 hosted by Tec de Monterrey

GALA partners from Adelaide University (Australia), Parma University (Italy), Claremont Graduate University (USA), Tec de Monterrey (Mexico), Bath Spa University (UK), State University New York Geneseo (USA) and RANEPA (Russia) gathered in Mexico for the 2016 conference hosted by Tec de Monterrey.

The GALA opening event was held on 25 May on the terrace of the Mexico City Campus at Tec de Monterrey, where flags representing each of the countries of GALA partners represented were raised.

Day one of the conference was held at the Mexico City Campus. Proceedings were opened by Vice Chancellor Professor Christina Slade and Professor Ian Gadd (Bath Spa University, UK) and presentations were given by Guillermo Hernandez, the General Director for Strategic Relations (Mexico) on ‘ANUIES: Internationalisation and regional competitiveness’, Raul Medina, the Chief Technical Officer and Vice President of Alliances (Mexico) on ‘Has the digital revolution changed the classroom?’, Carol Long, Becky Lewis, Benjamin Conard and Luciano Scala (SUNY Geneseo, USA)  on ‘The 21st Century Entrepreneurial College Campus’ , Alexey Verbetsky (RANEPA, Russia), on ‘Social initiatives of Students of RANEPA Liberal Arts College Students’ and Lourdes Epstein (Tec de Monterrey, Mexico) on ‘Anonymous Voices’ .

Day two of the conference was held at the Santa Fe Campus. Presentations were given by Andrea Trujillo and Carols Mendeola (Tec de Monterrey, Mexico) on ‘Motivos para amar Mexico’, Isabella Mozzini (University of Parma) on ‘University Museums and Collections: What opportunities’, Rebecca McGuire-Snieckus on the Bath Spa University Media Wall, Jonathan Velazquez and Hector Arriga (Tec de Monterrey) on ‘Innovations at Tec’ before GALA project themes and strategy were presented by Ian Gadd (University of Bath). In the afternoon, parallel sessions on research planning and teaching collaborations were held followed by ‘Planning for GALA in 2017 in Parma’ by Francesca Zanella and summary and closing (Christina Slade and Ian Gadd, Bath Spa University).
