Gala Conference 2023: Sustainable Liberal Arts

The Global Academy of Liberal Arts (GALA) is delighted to announce a call for papers for the 2023 conference on the theme of Sustainable Liberal Arts. This conference will be hosted by three different Gala partners at different times of the year.

Sustainable Civic Media

 

Columbia College Chicago is delighted to host a conference on the theme of Sustainable Civic Media. Paper presentations are invited broadly on the theme of civic media, the information ecosystem and the intersection between media systems, communities and civic and industrial agencies with a critical lens on how digital technologies are transforming society and culture and how programs and projects can build capacity, strengthen democratic participation and foster diversity, equity and inclusion. 

Note: a GALA members-only planning meeting will be held on 30 March.

Sustainable Development Goals

 

The University of the Witwatersrand is delighted to host a conference on themes relating to the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. Paper presentations are invited that broadly relate to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, and particularly those that relate to strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth, tackling climate change and improving sustainability.

Sustainable Liberal Arts

 

Utrecht University is delighted to host a conference on the theme of Sustainable Liberal Arts. Paper presentations are invited broadly on the theme of sustainable liberal arts, such as pedagogical initiatives, curricular development, good practice and meanings and perspectives of the liberal arts across institutions internationally. This call includes themes relating to the importance of the humanities in academia and themes relating to arts for social change. 

Note: a GALA members-only planning meeting will be held on 20 April.
