Following discussions with Samuel Nyanchoga and his colleagues at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, we have decided to postpone the GALA conference to 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Even if international travel restrictions were to ease by September, it would simply be too complicated to prepare effectively for the conference in good time. We are planning the following:
- CUEA will host the conference in either July or September 2021.
- The theme, ‘Liberal Arts for Tomorrow’, will remain the same.
- We will reconsider the submissions we’ve already received as well as re-issue a call for proposals once the new date is confirmed.
- We will explore ways of enabling virtual participation at the conference in case of ongoing travel restrictions or other difficulties.
We are also planning some kind of virtual ‘event’ for 15-16 September 2020 (i.e. the original conference dates). Please watch this space!
