Student Poetry Showcase
29th March 2023, 7:30pm
Students from Bath Spa University and Asheshi University in Ghana will showcase their poetry in this collaboration between the two universities. The Bath Spa poets are from the Uni Slam Team who have recently competed in the UK wide uni slam.
This event has been produced by the Bristol Lyra Poetry festival and is hosted by its co-director Danny Pandolfi.
Ashesi University prides itself on the creativity of its students. Galvanized by initiatives such as AIX (Ashesi Innovation Experience), the Creativity Festival and groups including STRYTLLERS,
Ashesi’s breadth of interdisciplinary scholarship and creative application is a key aspect of the learning experience at the University. Through literary investigation and analysis provided in its Humanities and Social Sciences as well as Africana Studies offerings, Ashesi students are encouraged to think and create work that taps into its presiding intersectional ethos.
Students develop their scholarly and creative identities in ways that connect with the Continent’s rich history of literature, orality, storytelling, as well as its plethora of contemporary future-oriented aspirations enshrined in its overarching mandate. The six poets proudly selected to represent Ashesi in this event are luminary embodiments of this combination of exploration, education, and expression.
