This study explores the integration of Adobe Express and Canva into the curriculum for Foundation Year Business Management students at Bath Spa University London, framed within the liberal arts educational model. It aims to determine how these digital tools can enhance students’ digital literacy, and creative problem-solving skills, thereby improving their employability in a world grappling with complex issues like environmental degradation and digital security. The research hypothesises that by blending traditional academic teachings with modern digital practices, students will be better equipped to develop innovative solutions to business challenges and understand global issues from a broad, culturally diverse perspective.

The empirical component of the research includes workshops where students actively use Adobe Express and Canva to tackle real-world business problems, thereby applying liberal arts principles to digital communication and strategic planning. This hands-on approach is expected to not only boost their digital competencies but also enhance their understanding of environmental sustainability. To measure the impact of this integration, the study employs a mixed-methods approach: administering pre- and post-intervention surveys to gauge changes in competencies and perceptions, conducting semi-structured interviews for deeper qualitative insights, observing student engagement and interaction during the workshops, and analysing the content and creativity of student projects. Anticipated results are that embedding Adobe Express and Canva within the curriculum will lead to a significant improvement in students’ ability to communicate effectively, think creatively, and approach problems from multiple perspectives.

By reinforcing the liberal arts objectives through digital means, the study aims to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but also ethically conscious and culturally aware, thereby addressing the evolving demands of the global job market. The research highlights the importance of updating educational practices to include digital resources, suggesting that such a curriculum overhaul could enhance student engagement and better prepare them for the challenges of the modern world.
