Within GALA, SUNY Geneseo is working to identify research and teaching collaborations that reflect institutional strengths in the areas of sustainability, local-global interconnections & community engagement, and digital humanities/digital fluency/analytics, to name a few. We are committed to participating in teaching collaborations with GALA partners creating structures within GALA for facilitating teaching collaborations (e.g. online at multiple scales, short-term faculty exchanges, long-term partnerships), and generating professional development/networking opportunities that increase the circle of GALA-aware faculty/staff, advance internationalization efforts, and support faculty research and teaching.

SUNY Geneseo was a founding partner of GALA with Provost Carol Long at the launch in 2014. Our location in rural western New York provides access to an area rich with cultural resources relating to the region’s agricultural & industrial heritage, food tourism, performing arts, and historical sites associated with Native American history, women’s suffrage, and the abolition movement.
