National Institute of Design, India — Call for Abstracts for Design Education Next: Shifting Paradigms, February 2027, abstract submission deadline 31 July 2026

It gives great pleasure once again to invite faculty members, researchers, and practitioners from your institution to participate in the International Design Education Conference, Design Education Next: Shifting Paradigms, to be held at the NID Ahmedabad campus from 23–25 February 2027.

NID, since its establishment in the early 1960’s, has consistently remained attentive to changing contexts and emerging realities in order to stay relevant and responsive. We observe that design education has long been shaped by global trends in industrial and social contexts. Today, however, these patterns are shifting, along with the value systems that inform how we design, learn, and engage with the world. Design Education Next brings this transition into focus by creating a platform to critically examine how design education can move from abstraction towards practice, lived experience, and contextually grounded ways of knowing and doing.

The conference invites educators, practitioners, and researchers to rethink design education in relation to socio-cultural contexts, evolving economies, and sustainable futures.
