Forest of Imagination returns to Entry Hill, Bath for a ten-day programme of immersive installations, artist-led workshops and playful interventions from 12–21 June 2026. Entry is free and open to all.

Schools’ days will take place 16–18 June. Opening Night takes place on 12 June 2026 6-8pm, inviting visitors of all ages to explore, create and reconnect with nature. There will also be a creative workshop ‘Conversations with Trees’ 12 June 4-5pm which can be booked here.

The free outdoor arts event brings world-class artists, nature and community together at Bath’s most remarkable hidden landscape. 

Perched on the edge of Bath, Entry Hill is a hidden landscape of woodlands, grasslands and sweeping views across the city. Following the creative transformation of the former golf course in 2025, the site is evolving into a living landscape for imagination a place where artists, designers, schools, students, families and the wider community come together to explore new possibilities for its future as a permanent Arts and Nature Park.

A Dream Worth Fighting For

At the heart of Forest of Imagination is a long-held dream: to create a permanent Art sand Nature Park at Entry Hill, a living space where creativity, ecology and community belong together, for good. Every annual event we create is a deliberate act of imagination in service of that vision. Each installation, workshop and moment of connection is designed to show the community, the council and the world beyond, what becomes possible when we take our relationship with the natural landscape seriously – and what is at stake if we don’t. Forest of Imagination is not just an event. It is an argument, made creatively and playfully, for a different kind of future.

Passing the Green Baton

In a moment of continuity, the Festival of Nature, which this year places trees and forests at the heart of its programme, will host a workshop at the Forest of Imagination opening night, symbolically passing the green baton from one nature-inspired celebration to the next.

Artists and Installations

Forest of Imagination 2026 is developing a spectacular and unique programme of works. Among the artists and projects currently in development:

Andrew Amondson – the Berlin-based artist behind Forest Cathedral, the acclaimed installation transforming the tithe barn at Messums West into a living forest of light and sound, is developing new work for Entry Hill.

Morag Myerscough – the internationally renowned British artist and designer, celebrated globally for immersive spatial artworks, supergraphics and installations that champion community and public interaction, will bring her bold and joyful vision to the landscape.

Grant Associates – the Bath-based landscape architects behind some of the world’s most celebrated public spaces will create a large-scale chrysalis sculpture. Designed as a physical embodiment of transformation and potential, the work follows the giant pink caterpillar that captured imaginations in 2025 and points towards a future butterfly pavilion as part of the long-term vision for Entry Hill.

FCB Studios – Bath’s internationally recognised architects, urban designers and masterplanners will work with Grant Associates.

Martyn Ware – legendary musician, producer and audio artist, co-founder of Heaven 17 and the Human League, is developing an immersive audio installation drawing on the extraordinary soundscapes of Madagascar, bringing the sound of a distant forest to the hills of Bath.

Matthew Leece – artist and Forest of Imagination collaborator – is developing several works, including, What Do Trees Think?, an installation inviting visitors to climb inside tree trunks and explore the boundaries between human and more-than-human life; and Revealing the Hidden Brook, a digital artwork exploring nature connection and the diminished and lost river systems beneath our feet. Leece is also developing The Cocoon, an intimate space of intense creative activity where ideas can be shared, held and reshaped.

Alex Sherman – is creating an infinite spiral: a quietly mesmerising work that rewards lingering.

Morgie Shaban & Holly le Var – artist and educator – will lead a series of creative workshops with local primary schools in the weeks leading up to the event, co-designing an interactive landscape installation that will form part of the event programme itself.

It nurtures ecological consciousness, intergenerational hope and creative action – encouraging communities to think imaginatively together about climate change, nature connection and social action. At its core, Forest of Imagination creates shared spaces in which imagination is valued as a way of being, relating and connecting. Bath’s Entry Hill is becoming exactly this: a living landscape where art, ecology and community converge.”

Margaret Heffernan, entrepreneur, author, keynote speaker and Professor of Practice, University of Bath School of Management commented: “Like nature, this forest is both spontaneous and designed, surprising and unpredictable but safe and welcoming. It’s a wonderful antidote to all those scary fairy tales where forests are daunting and dangerous – and that’s a tremendous invitation for children who are forever subject to warnings and instruction. In the forest, they – and all of us – can let our curiosity and delight run wild, confident that we will discover something, somewhere, somehow, forgetting entirely that that is what other people might call learning. With every year that passes, the Forest of Imagination gets richer, more inviting and more necessary. Just like a real forest.”
