Bath Spa University was awarded a prestigious Certificate of Recognition by Princess Esther Selassie Antohin, Executive Director of Heritage Watch Ethiopia. The certificate, presented to Vice-Chancellor Professor Georgina Andrews, acknowledges the University’s institutional support for the conservation of Crown Prince Asfawossen’s historic residence and the revitalization of its Tsegereda ​​gardens as a public resource.  

The initiative aims to safeguard an important cultural landmark for future generations. Bath Spa University’s commitment to preserving heritage and fostering cultural appreciation is praised as ‘invaluable’ in ensuring the success of this project.

Princess Esther is the former Chair of Trustees at Fairfield House in Bath and the great-granddaughter of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, who visited our Newton Park campus in 1954. Her leadership in heritage preservation continues a legacy deeply connected to Bath’s cultural history.
