Bath Spa University is proud to sponsor Heritage Watch Ethiopia, led by Princess Esther Antohin Selassie, who visited Bath Spa University in 2024 to unveil the memorial tree to her grandfather, the Emperor Haile Selassie, who visited Newton Park in 1954.

HWE’s newly-inaugurated Tsegereda Garden, sponsored by HWE’s other principal UK sponsor, the British Council, is a stunning terrace garden. This innovative project, which blends sustainable gardening practices with cultural heritage preservation, features a commemorative plaque showcasing the Bath Spa University logo.

The garden serves as a living tribute to Ethiopia’s rich heritage and offers a serene space for community engagement. A video highlighting the inauguration is available here.
