RANEPA visit to Bath Spa University

Posted on February 20, 2018

Evgeny Mironov (Vice-Director for School of Public Policy, RANEPA) and Alexander Mishin (Dean of the Liberal Arts College, RANEPA) visited Bath Spa University to discuss specific subject area matches between programmes, in particular, Creative Writing, Media Communications, Publishing/Journalism, and Sociology. Ways of developing RANEPA’s relationship with Bath Spa and GALA were also explored.   The Russian Presidential Academy for National Economy and Public Administration is one of the largest universities in the world: over 200,000 students across 54 branches. 80% of Russian regional governors and 60% of Russian government officials are graduates from RANEPA. The main campus is in Moscow.   The Liberal Arts programme was established at the Moscow campus in 2012. It was designed by Professor Andrei Zorin (Fellow of New College, Oxford). It currently has c.1100 students across four years. It is only one of two liberal arts programmes offered by Russian institutions. An overview, along with a list of current subject majors and minors is available at  http://ion.ranepa.ru/en/schools/liberal_arts_faculty/ The Liberal Arts College at RANEPA  has been an active member of GALA, and has sent a representative to every GALA annual conference. In February 2016, Andrei Zorin participated in a roundtable on the liberal arts at Bath Spa. They are hosting a two-day GALA workshop entitled ‘Mapping the Liberal Arts’ in April: http://gala.network/ranepa/2018/01/12/gala-workshop-mapping-the-liberal-arts/ ranepa visit doc Above from left to right: Rebecca McGuire-Snieckus, Evgeny Mironov, Ian Gadd, Alexander Mishin and Sue Rigby
