Udine University, one of the founding members of the Global Academy of Liberal Arts has welcomed a new rector, Professor Roberto Pinton. an academic leader and scholar in the Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Animal Sciences. Introduced to Pro Vice Chancellor for Research at Bath Spa University and Academic Director of the Global Academy of Liberal Arts Professor Rebecca McGuire-Snieckus, by Professor Antonella Riem, he reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration. “Internationalisation,” said Professor Pinton, “has always been a priority for our University, an indispensable challenge and opportunity for the development of research and teaching.”

The first graduate of Udine University which was founded in 1978 as part of the reconstruction plan of Friuli after the earthquake in 1976 was Antonella Riem, is also a founding member of the Global Academy of Liberal Arts which she joined in 2014 as Pro-Rector of Udine University.  Professor Strachan and Professor McGuire-Snieckus met with colleagues to discuss priorities in teaching and research and ongoing collaborations with the network.
