Gaming Climate Change

Posted on September 20, 2022

Join Dr John Curry and Dr Stephen Augilar Milan from Bath Spa University on 1st October 2022, 3pm – 6pm for a game on Climate Change
Melting ice is the visible sign of change in the Arctic circle, but behind the scenes, states are positioning themselves for a “New Great Game”. Historically the “Great Game” described the power struggle between the great nations of Russian and British Empires over territories, communications links, and natural resources in central Asia. As the ice-free zones in the Arctic circle continue to widen each year, North America, the European nations, Russia, and China are setting out strategies. Each wants to gain access to undiscovered natural resources, trade routes, fisheries, and geopolitical advantage. Play your part in determining the next world superpower by participating in this one-of-a-kind virtual role play. Participants must attend or watch a recorded lecture on the game methodology and geo-political context before participating which can be found on YouTube here.

This event is free, but booking is essential.
